The Launch X431 V+ sits in the upper-mid tier of the professional scanner market, priced at around $800–$1,000 depending on the subscription included. After using it daily in our workshop for six months across a mix of European, Asian, and American vehicles, here's our verdict.

Build Quality

The tablet feels solid — metal back panel, bright 10-inch display that's readable in direct sunlight. The wireless VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface) dongle is a genuine improvement over tethered tools; technicians can walk around the vehicle while reading live data.

Rating: 4/5 — Slightly plasticky volume buttons, but nothing that affects daily use.

Vehicle Coverage

Launch claims 10,000+ vehicle models. In practice:

• Japanese vehicles (Toyota, Honda, Nissan): Excellent. All manufacturer-specific codes, full bi-directional support.
• German vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi): Very good. INPA-level depth for BMW, full coding on VW via OBD.
• American vehicles (GM, Ford, Chrysler): Good, though some proprietary modules (like GM's SPS programming) still need a factory subscription.
• Korean vehicles (Hyundai, Kia): Good coverage, improved significantly in the last two updates.
